The Martin-Luther-University

We arrived around 9.00am in Boston. Yes, it is slightly bigger than Blacksburg. The international youth hostel is near downtown, so the trouble was to find a parking space. Check in was noon (as usually) and so that we had some time to get a breakfast in a small pub.

The Skyline of Boston

Then, we left take a look at Boston downtown. We got a parking space around the MIT campus. From there, one has a breathtaking view on skyline of the city.

It is worth to mention that we had magnificent weather for a day late in November.

We spent the rest of the day exploring the MIT campus and looking for a parking space (we found one at the corner of the youth hostel without charge, no kidding).

A couple of hours later, the day was gone and we were ready to meet the nightlife. Fortunately, we had someone with us who had two friends in Boston. They showed us around. Somehow, you did not get into a real club wearing some normal day clothes. Less seems to better (especially for girls), but less clothes in November and a half hour queue means catching a cold. God left the choice to us and somehow, we also could not find our suits.

On the next day, we visited Boston’s downtown and the New England Aquarium. When we stepped inside the building, we saw a couple of levels each with countless containers full of fishes and other “things” (for instance penguins). I learned that fishes (not whales) can get quite big, even bigger than me, by eating some vegetarian stuff. Sorry, it was to dark to take any pictures.

Boston Downtown near the New England Aquarium

Jan decided to take a look at some museums in the meanwhile. We met him in downtown, after taking a short look at the gift shop.

The Prudential Center, Boston Downtown

Sunset already began to light up the towers in downtown and we decided to get a better view of Boston’s downtown from the top of the Prudential Center (80 floors high).

The dinner was awesome good, since we spent quite more than usually at a fast-food location.

The friendly Taxi driver

Unfortunately, we missed Harvard on Monday morning. Our car was not awake this morning, so we had to get taxi driver with his car to do a jump start (for 20 bucks of course). We spend another 5 bucks to get some oil. Fortunately, the taxi driver looked that up, because we were almost out of oil.

Not very pretty, when you drive somewhere in the middle of nowhere and you do not  know that your car is running out of oil. 20 minutes later, the car was alive  again and we hit the road to the Canadian Border.
